GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Technical Specialist for Engine Sensors is responsible for leading and executing strategic initiatives within the engine sensors segment, ensuring the alignment of projects with the organization's long-term objectives. This role is pivotal in managing the development, testing, and implementation of advanced sensor technologies, promoting innovation, and enhancing the company's capabilities in engine sensor solutions. The Technical Specialist will also play a crucial role in talent development, cross-functional collaboration, and upholding the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

TECHNICAL JOB SUMMARY:

    Technical Specialist

    EDUCATION:

    Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electro-Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred

    EXPERIENCE:

    5-8 years with direct experience in engine sensor technology or engine diagnostics

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Lead the development of the engine sensor segment within the organization, setting technical goals and objectives that align with the company's vision and market demands for sensors such as manifold air pressure, crankcase pressure, knock, and other oil & temperature sensors
    • Apply advanced knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and procedures to complete complex projects, with expertise in sensors, electronics, and/or software development for automotive applications
    • Basic knowledge of internal combustion engines, with previous exposure to automotive industry highly preferred (experience with major OEM or automotive parts supplier)
    • Utilize skills in reverse engineering and sensor technology, demonstrating expert level proficiency in identifying tools and equipment required for high-quality sensor development and related tasks (quality issue support)
    • Evaluate functional risk, develop and implement validation plans for sensor parts and related materials, and engage directly in high-risk projects (DVP&R, DFMEA, PPAP experience required)
    • Oversee the development and management of the engineering budget for the engine sensors segment, ensuring optimal resource allocation across projects
    • Foster innovation and continuous improvement within the sensors segment, encouraging the exploration of new technologies and methodologies
    • Cross-functional collaboration with internal sales team, product management, purchasing, marketing, and external suppliers/manufactures to ensure sensor projects meet business, customer, and market needs, delivering high-quality, innovative sensor solutions
    • Represent the engine sensors segment in leadership meetings, providing insights into capabilities, project statuses, and strategic directions
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, managing risk and ensuring the highest levels of quality and safety in sensor engineering practices
    • Travel as required (up to 50%)
